“So
what should hives be made of? . . . . .buy the best not the
cheapest. Use cedar. It resists most insect attacks, is
lightweight and is more stable.” -Peter Hewitt for Bee Craft Magazine
(July 2003)
P eter
Hewitt is right, you get what you pay for. So when searching eBay or
online for the cheapest cedar beehive remember, that craftsmanship has
it's cost too. You may find similar cedar beehives on eBay or other sites
for less, but keep in mind we have been in business since 1997. I am a
Craftsman, NOT a beekeeper. This is what I do, I make quality cedar homes
for your backyard critters. This is not a part-time gig, it is how I make
my living and I take great pride in my work.
CONSTRUCTION
All
Hive bodies are constructed from 100% Western Red
Cedar (NOT Eastern White or Atlantic cedar)
Top
cover is clad in galvanized sheet metal (not shiny Aluminum).
All Frames (40) are INCLUDED with this beehive. (why wouldn't the other
guys supply frames?)
Hive bodies and supers are rabbet jointed, stapled, glued and screwed as
should all quality carpentry. In fact, all Lone Star Woodcraft products
have a limited lifetime warranty
